Wow, I rarely respond to the daily threads, yet here I am starting one... who knew?
Anyway, it's gray, cold and humid here. Just had my morning shot (of caffe) and am enjoying a bowl of Squadron leader in my old Pete Emerald straight apple. (I HAD to go tobacco shopping yesterday, MacBaren Cube was killing me)
No fire in the fire place, perhaps this evening - We are going to two vinyards today to buy a few cases of wine and have some lunch.
Morning all, from a cooler (thank goodness) & overcast SA highlands. Had a nice thunderstorm here last night. Coffee & BBF in my Jan Pietenpauw are helping me wake up. Tech, I envy you your visit to a vineyard for lunch - sounds delightful. Hopefully I'll be barbequeing tonight - the truth is that it's been so hot that neither Mrs. M nor I have felt up to eating a meal. Enjoy your smokes today.
Good morning all. I'm having a wee bit of insomnia, but I'm relaxing with a fine bowl of Pegasus by C&D in a SAV/IRC Poker. I might as well stay up for the Mass for shutins at 6:00AM. It's going to be another sunny day here. Boy my American neighbours on the east coast were hit by quite the snow storm yesterday, I guess they might have a White Christmas, which is always nice. Take Care Everyone.

Calm and cold in the Western European front, the church bells just played the 10 o'clock. Some fog still on the trees and a full bowl of OGS on my Chacom Cordoba. Enjoy your Sunday.

and only about 6 inches on the ground, and on the roads - still. City claims its making progress clearing roads but not progressing anywhere around my neighborhood, that's for certain.
My large Lorenzo Novara is loaded with C&D Cordial and a big mug of coffee steams nearby - I'm not ready to venture out quite yet for first puff.
Getting to work will be a challenge a little later too.
Update: One hour later, first smoke is done and s tasty one at that. Still cold as all 'get-out' out there. Pondering next bowl already - stick with Cordial or go heavier? Decisions, decisions.
Wife is threatening conscription into pre-holiday house duties and so I best choose now.
Happiness is a warm pipe.
And what did I find in my mail box??
The grain on this pipe rivals the Bjarne brandy I got for my anniversary. I haven't smoked it yet but can't wait. Thank you again Sparks for the opportunity to compete and the honor of this pipe. I showed it to my wife the first time you posted it and said "I WANT THAT PIPE!"
Oliver is improving steadily. They've taken the tube out of his nose. He has a billyruban light now which was a little surprising at first (hey, I knew the kid looked like an alien when he was born, but now he's glowing green!) He has dimples. It's from Kati's side.
Well, gotta get back down to the NICU. Take care guys.
Let's have a look up upur family tree.
Not that I care. My folks always claimed that my sister was brought to the house by aliens.
Best of health to you and yours, to all of you and yours.
Just call me Kurt. Just call the dog Hannah. (Call her whatever you want, she won't come anyway.)

and still coming down. A quiet morning with a Tsuge stacked billiard filled with Old Red. I will soon have to venture out to get another armload of wood for the stove. Glad to hear your son is stable and improving, Preston.

And a large bowl of it. No head spin, but I think I am smoking it toooo fast again, one needs to take it slow on these rope blends, stress them too much and they will bite back with a bitter foul cigar ash taste. Slowing the pace, there is a lovely sweet but strong tobacco saying hello
Probably the stupidest thing I've ever attempted. I couldn't even see what side of the road was which, just kept squinting and pointing the truck at the tire grooves left by the idiot that drove through it before me.
Got stuck in a snowbank just down the street from my house. A whole truckload of hispanic guys, all in dress shoes and slacks, stopped to help me and pushed me back onto the road.
I got home, but woke up this morning to 4+ feet of drifted snow in the 200 foot long driveway. And I only have one shovel.
Looks like someone isn't going to make it in to work today.
Sitting at home, deciding what tobacco to smoke.
No snow here :( All you east coast people are getting blasted and we in Buffalo, one of the snow capitals of the country don't have squat on the ground. I gotta tell ya, if we have a green Christmas, I'm gonna be depressed. I have my fingers crossed, but it's not looking good.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and getting ready for the Holiday.
Preston, that pipe looks good on ya bud. Glad you like it and I can't wait to hear how it smokes for ya.
Happys Sunday Morning to all those enjoying their Sunday smokes. Just finished a bowl of Engine 99. What a good pipeful. My thanks to Aristokles. We received about 20 inches of Mother Nature's white and have completed our driveway clear. Have any of you guys seen the GMC commercials for Chevy's? I'm the guy with the Honda snowthrower. Believe me it works better than a Chevy. Now waiting for our town plows to come by and block the front of our driveway again as they replow our road. Thank god for 4X4 on the Ford F250 crew cab. I should be able to just drive on through the mound and slush it up. Today will be an inside day. Plan to cook some hearty soup and a great Sunday meal. The IRS Holtsville Service Center (my office) got the most snow of all the island at 24 inches. Hope it takes them forever to clear it.....maybe get a gift of a day off from work tomorrow but not holding my breath. Best to all....

Cold, rainy and not much wind at all here. My plan is to lay around the house and possibly watch a movie or two today. Carter Hall in a Peterson Supreme and plenty of black coffee on the side.

just cold no snow. I was excited to miss all the snow yesterday, but hopefully my brother in law will be able to get through it and make it out here for christmas.
Nothing in the pipe yet, and looks like it might be a few days before I get to.
But happy pipes every one.
Pjc, I'm happy that Oliver is getting better.
Reading your posts now I understand why you do like big 4x4 trucks so much, with all that snow I would too.
Gezer, don't forget to pack a blizzard kit in the truck most of the time is safer to pull out and wait, maybe some extra lights for the truck could help too, I don't have any experience with snow but I know that's very hard to drive in that conditions.
Lisbon got some real snow in 1933, 1944 and 1945. In 2006 we got a little in January, I remember seeing 2 or 3 snow flakes from my windows... :-) So, the chances of having a white Christmas are a little low, but we have rain and cold, temp right now (23:00) is below 5ºC. It's not raining a lot but I went outside to the coffee shop 3 hours ago and there
was a very very cold wind blowing, if this keeps up for the night I may have some troubles with the car in the morning.

Tennis doubles with the big boys on a cloudy SoCal day was freakin' GREAT! I move so much more in real doubles than I do in singles now that I know what I'm doing. What a great workout!
Gezer, you survived, so there's room for more stupidity thankfully.
Martin, I've seen people with 4X4's get stuck in barren parking lots. If you can't drive, well thank goodness for cell phones.
Preston, well considering how DADDY looks, alien is in the making. Good thing you found someone to counter and tolerate you. Oliver, you improve and rule my friend!
Dark Star in my other Wiley with a Foster's during the Charger game and I gotta get back to it
Enjoy your smokes all,
Bob

That Windjammer smokes AWESOME!! Nice, dry smoke. I only had to use 3 cleaners (that is a dry smoke for me). It brought all kinds of oohs and aahhs at the B&M where I had to show it off. Very lightweight pipe for its size, smooth draw, comfortable bit - I loved it! And the pipe really liked my favorite tobacco blend which is just icing on the cake. My Bjarne kind of struggles with it (many many relights and pipe cleaners) which is a shame, might have to find a different blend for that pipe.
And Oliver will be able to come home on Tuesday. That will be nice, I'm getting tired of the hospital and not seeing my other children.
Good day here in central Illinois. Little snow, not much just enough to get the grass white. Started the day with some 1Q and followed it up with some London Bridge. Now sitting with some McClelland Christmas Cheer. Might finish the night with some Frog Morton.
Hope everyone is ready for Christmas. I have to work Christmas but will be with my girls in the morning, and might get a good pipe in.
Everyone have a great Christmas and a very happy and exciting New Year.
Scott
May your heart and pipe be full of goodness.

I'm glad it smokes well. That makes me VERY happy. Do me a favor if you wouldn't mind... write up a little testimonial. With your permission I would like to post it on my website.
Also, don't forget to tell those guys at the B&M about my site :)
Sorry to hear that you have to work on Christmas. My experience on Christmas night (on patrol) is a quiet evening out with the boys. Stay warm and safe and enjoy your pipe. You won't be making any late collars. Best regards to you and family

I will do my best to get that done this week.
