Myself and one of the gents at the area tobacco shop have talked about starting a pipe club off and on for a while now. Any time we run into one another at the store we spend at least an hour talking about a pipe club but not really planning anything out.
So my question to those of you in a club is this... What are some of the things that your clubs do to keep members interested? Aside from smoking pipes...
I've had a few ideas about different topics to discuss and such but I'm open to any ideas. The more I've thought about this the better I like the idea. Even if it is just a small club it would be very interesting to get to meet others in the area that enjoy a good smoke.
Sorry to hear that...
Ohio law makes it legal for establishments that sell tobacco to allow smoking. (i.e. you can still smoke in a tobacco shop.) Many of the shops here even have lounge areas where you can pay a small fee or a monthly membership to smoke. Which is great for me because in the winter if I want a cigar I'm out in the cold or at the tobacco shop. Thats the one thing the wife won't let me smoke in the house.
Try tobacco exchanges, on a small scale (passing a peace pipe).
Field trips to local wineries with outdoor areas that allow smoking. Summer canoe outings. Visits to each others homes. Pot luck dinners with the SOs involved. Descend upon a local soccer match (the kids are such fun to watch), and it is ALWAYS held out of doors. Visits to the local park for a bonfire. Fishing tournaments. Good luck!
...is having a place to meet where smoking is allowed. The Green Bay, Wisconsin club will be out of business on July 6th, 2010 when the State-Wide Smoking Ban becomes effective. Simply put, the law makes no exception for private party smoking in "any Public Place!
