I went flying today, over to Manitowoc with a friend for a little lunch trip. The flight was very smooth but Instrument flight conditions prevailed with low visibility and clouds. Upon my return, Cathy informed me that she signed for a package that was delivered from North Carolina. What a wonderful way to fill a Saturday with additional excitement. It was the arrival of my sixth Bob Hayes handmade pipe! It is a free-hand of beautiful briar with lovely grain and stain. It is my first of this style and I love it. Bob knows I like larger pipes so he contacted me and said I had first dibs on it. I said "send it on up here"! I am very pleased. The pictures had not done it justice. And, it is so very light. I have decided it will be reserved for Heavy English blends (blends containing substantial Latakia).
Each picture shows a quarter coin for size reference:

I am really looking forward to smoking this pipe today!
Enjoy your new Hayes Bob.
very nice pipe Capt. I really like the curve, let's say, the wave in some of your pipes... ;.)
by the way, not that it meters, but I don't know how large a quarter is... :-ooooo
I love a man who speaks his mind.
Beautiful pipe Cap'n Bob. I wish you many more.

A quarter is just a bit larger than the bore of Bob's new pipe. I do hope this clears things up a bit. ;-)
Nice looking pipe there Captn.
... this pipe is 6 and 1/2 inches long. A "standard size" pipe is 5 and 3/4 inches. The bowl width is 3/4 inch and the depth of this bowl is 2 inches. I will smoke it later today for the first time.
Great comment!! NO BEATING ABOUT THE BUSH FOR YOU.
Enjoy many bowls full
