Hey all-
I have a few GL Pease blends that I'd absolutely love to try. Can you give me a few comments, so that I can perhaps narrow it or know what to expect? I'm running out of my English blends, and figured I'd stock up. Thanks.
Here they are-
GLP Caravan
GLP Charing Cross
GLP Odyssey
Would you recommend one aside from these, or in their place?
Very interesting. I've been trying to get more and more into VA, but the wicked weed that is latakia keeps holding me from it. I do have a pipe basically dedicated to Navy Flake though...
Thanks very much. I'll add it to my sampler order!
I love the english style tobaccos, with lots of smoke and latakia, but I can't smoke latakia all the time, and, in the morning I prefer a straight VA.
From the few I have tried, one of the best is GL Pease Union Square.
I agree with the Captain, Heritage is a great smoke, and one of my favorites. But, have in mind that it is a light aromatic.
I don't mind "light" aromatics in the least. The only ones I despise are your typical Cigar Shop, heavily cased aros that just coat your mouth with this nasty chemical taste. Thanks very much for your suggestion; I too can't really take to lat in the morning (I usually stick to NF or this B&M blend called Brazos King).
I really enjoyed Odyssey: it is plenty of the latakia and really smooth and satisfying. A quality tobacco with little garbage in there. I only smoked 2oz but plan to revisit this one.
Nothing bad to say about odyssey. The guy at my local B&M said it smelled like old socks burning, which is good enough for me ---
Well I bought some tobacco tonight, but none of it was from GL Pease. Went with Stokkebye's Balkan Supreme and a tin of Scottish Cake. GL Pease will have to wait...
And on that note, PAD and TAD must cease, or I'll need to get a second job!
Another great GL Pease blend is Two Friends Heritage. The Two Friends line was created by GL Pease and Craig Tarler in 1999. In fact, Heritage is the only tobacco that Craig Tarler smokes! If you like Virginia, I do recommend it. It has the flavor of a Virginia Flake in a traditional cut.
